An artist and community leader, Daniel Okezue, has bagged industry recognition at the Mens Porch Legacy Awards 2025, where he was honoured with the Creative Art/Performing Art Award.

The recognition is a testament to his tireless dedication to the arts, his innovation, and his unwavering support for the creative community, both on and off the stage.

Known for his dynamic presence in theatre and stand-up comedy and as the founder of The Prolific Creative Hub in Bradford, Okezue has always been a trailblazer in the Nigerian and UK arts scene. His ability to seamlessly blend humour with compelling storytelling has earned him a reputation as one of the most exciting performers of his generation. This new award solidifies his place not only as a performer but as a catalyst for artistic innovation, inspiring countless creatives to embrace their passions and elevate their craft.

According to a statement, winning the Creative Art/Performing Art award at the Mens Porch Legacy Awards is a remarkable achievement for Okezue, who has consistently pushed the boundaries of what it means to be an artist. His work in theatre, with over 20 stage plays to his name, has always been characterized by its depth, humour, and ability to engage audiences.

However, it is his commitment to fostering a thriving creative community in Bradford that truly sets him apart. In 2024, he founded The Prolific Creative Hub, a space where performing artists from diverse backgrounds, including poets, dancers, musicians, actors, and comedians, can collaborate, showcase their work, and find support.

His monthly performance platform, Testing the Mic, has become a key event for emerging and established artists to present their creations and receive feedback from a like-minded community.

His contributions to the artistic landscape in Bradford have played a pivotal role in nurturing talent and strengthening the local creative scene.
