The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Friday formally filed charges of alleged $345,000 fraud against Ezekiel Onyedikachi, manager of gospel artist Mercy Chinwo.
His lawyer, Monday Ubani (SAN), received the charges in court.
The EFCC had earlier obtained an arrest warrant from the Federal High Court in Lagos after accusing Onyedikachi of diverting royalties from Mercy Chinwos digital platforms and events.
EFCC counsel, Bilikisu Buhari, claimed the manager mismanaged funds, withholding Chinwos share.

However, Onyedikachis lawyer argued that the case was contractual and not criminal.
He informed the court that a fundamental human rights suit had been filed to challenge the arrest and requested the court to dismiss the warrant.
During the hearing, the EFCC noted its inability to apprehend Onyedikachi and requested permission to serve the charges directly to Ubani.
The court agreed, and Ubani accepted the charges on behalf of his client.
Justice Alexander Owoeye scheduled February 14 for Onyedikachis arraignment and the hearing of all pending applications.
